Stylish villa with privacy, luxury and stunning 360° views of ocean, mountains and countryside
near Lagos and Portimão, in the unspoilt Western Algarve, Portugal

A contemparary villa with a classic aspect

View of the 'Classic Monte' from a neighbouring property. The house, located in the council of Mexilhoeira Grande and completed in 2012, offers luxury accommodation for six - three bedrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. (Another bedroom in the wing over the garage is in use as owners' study.) The master bedroom and the study are airconditioned - a feature that is almost superfuous, as the hilltop position assures that the house enjoys a breeze on most summer days.
The architecture aims to integrate tradition with modern spatial concepts. It was designed to look like a traditional Portugues casa senhorial, a mansion, from afar, but the interior and the ocean facing façade with its large expanses of glass are modern, almost minimalist in design.
The architectural concept was to optimize the amazing views in all directions. For that reason it was stretched to a width of nearly 30 meters (100 ft), so that all rooms but one could enjoy a view of the ocean, and all but one have a view of the mountains as well.
The monte has a height of 106 m (348 ft), and stands approximately 55 m (160 ft) above the riverbed, which forms part of the property. Access is served by 1.6 km (1 mile) of internal roads and tracks. Hidden in the bottom of the fold lies a tall dam with a fair sized lake.
